Civic petition work requires listening to citizens, responding clearly, and resolving petitions properly. According to the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, General Nguyen Doan Anh, citizen information should be an important input for legislative activity, oversight, and decision-making on important national issues. He said that listening must be substantive, responding must be clear, and resolving citizens’ petitions must be carried out “to the letter.”
At the second session of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, on the morning of May 11, the Chair of the Committee on Citizen Engagement and Oversight Le Thi Nga presented a summary report on the National Assembly’s citizen engagement work for March and April 2026.
Le Thi Nga said voters and the public appreciate and trust the Party’s and the State’s proactive, flexible, and decisive leadership in guiding and managing socio-economic development. She noted that the public welcomes the National Assembly’s consideration and passage of practical laws aimed at removing difficulties and obstacles in implementation, while ensuring legitimate rights and interests of the people.
In particular, Le Thi Nga said the National Assembly promptly amended and supplemented tax laws, creating a basis for the Government to raise the tax threshold on the revenue of household businesses to 1 billion VND per year. She also said the Assembly issued tax policies for gasoline and aviation fuel to help manage domestic prices.
According to the report, these flexible and timely decisions contributed to controlling inflation, alleviating difficulties, supporting production and business, and stabilizing people’s livelihoods.
Le Thi Nga reported that during the reporting period, the Committee on Citizen Engagement and Oversight received 1,241 recommendations from voters submitted to the 10th session, XV National Assembly. The resolution rate reached 98.8%.
She added that 15 recommendations submitted to the 10th session have not yet been resolved by competent agencies within the deadline. The Standing Committee will continue to urge and update the results of handling and replying to voters’ petitions by competent agencies for reporting to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly in accordance with regulations.
In concluding remarks, Vice Chairman General Nguyen Doan Anh reiterated that citizen information should be an important input for lawmaking, oversight, and decisions on important national issues. He said issues repeatedly raised by voters—especially those with broad impact on the legitimate rights and interests of the people—must be monitored and overseen to the end.
He also emphasized the overall spirit of citizen engagement work: “listening to the people substantively; responding to the people clearly; resolving the people’s petitions to the place.”
