Da Nang’s economy has accelerated since the start of 2026, with the city targeting two-digit growth for the year. The city’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first quarter of 2026 is estimated to increase 8.45% year on year compared with the same period in 2025, providing a basis for the two-digit growth goal.
On 3 April, the Da Nang Statistics Office released its quarterly economic and social indicators report for Q1 2026.
The report said Da Nang’s Q1 2026 performance shows positive signals in the context of the government’s instruction for localities to strive for two-digit growth to lay foundations for a new development phase.
Growth momentum came mainly from the services sector, which rose 8.3%. The industrial–construction sector increased 9.05%, becoming the second major driver of the city’s expansion.
A standout contributor was the construction sector, up 15.04%, the highest increase among all sectors. The statistics office said this reflects accelerated infrastructure investment, including urban projects and civil works, which can stimulate aggregate demand and create spillover effects across related materials, labor and services.
In current prices, the economy’s scale in Q1 2026 is estimated at more than 75,000 trillion dong, an increase of over 8,000 trillion dong versus Q1 2025.
Da Nang’s GRDP growth rate in Q1 2026 ranked 17th among 34 localities. It ranked 2nd among six provinces and cities in the South Central region and 3rd among six centrally administered cities. The economy’s scale ranked 15th among 34 localities.
The report estimated that Da Nang contributes about 21.7% to the GRDP of the South Central region and 2.4% to national GDP.
For 2026, Da Nang will continue to push forward public investment disbursement, focusing on removing bottlenecks in procedures and speeding up land and site clearance to accelerate priority projects.
“This is identified as a year of acceleration in the recovery and breakthrough phase. In particular, infrastructure investment plays a key role in driving economic and social growth, improving competitiveness and attracting investment,” the Da Nang Statistics Office assessed.
The statistics office reported that tourism activity in Q1 2026 remained robust, supporting related service sectors such as accommodation, dining and travel. It attributed the improvement to the rebound in demand, diversification of product offerings, better service quality and intensified promotion.
Services linked to tourism maintained a positive growth trajectory. Accommodation and dining continued to lead in scale, while travel agencies improved visitor numbers and utilization efficiency.
In Q1, revenue from accommodation and food services in Da Nang exceeded 14,000 billion dong, up 16.3% year on year. The total number of guest nights served by accommodation providers exceeded 4.2 million, up 15.3%. International visitors reached more than 2.3 million, up 16.2%, while domestic visitors exceeded 1.8 million, up 14.1%.
The report said that as the tourism market recovers rapidly and becomes more dynamic, tourism services and travel activities are being further driven by product diversification, service quality improvements and promotional efforts in both domestic and international markets. It also noted that many tour operators are proactively innovating products and strengthening links with airlines and service providers to expand markets and boost competitiveness.
In Q1 2026, state budget revenue on the city territory surpassed 17,000 billion dong, up 26.5% year on year. Domestic revenue remained the dominant source at nearly 16,000 billion dong, accounting for 93.4% of total revenue.
Over the first three months, Da Nang attracted investment of over 58,000 billion dong, which the report said is 5.6 times higher than the same period in 2025.
“These results reflect an improving investment climate in the city, characterized by transparency and attractiveness. It also demonstrates domestic investor confidence in Da Nang's development potential and long-term planning direction,” the Da Nang Statistics Office emphasized.
