Dogecoin is moving toward a quantum-resistant future after reports of experimental work on post-quantum security gained attention in the cryptocurrency community.
Google has pointed to post-quantum cryptography (PQC) as the clearest defense for the crypto industry, describing it as a newer form of security designed to withstand attacks from powerful machines.
Against this backdrop, Dogecoin Foundation director Timothy Stebbing said Dogecoin Core developer Michin Lumin and the Dogecoin Foundation team have successfully executed an experimental post-quantum secure transaction on the Dogecoin mainnet. Stebbing added that “Experimentation continues.”
Dogecoin software engineer Ed Tubbs replied to Stebbing’s update with “Confirmed,” according to the article.
The article also notes that Dogecoin developers proposed integrating RE-EN (Revolutionary Encryption Network) in January 2025. RE-EN is described as a next-generation quantum-resistant encryption system intended to be incorporated into Dogecoin’s security infrastructure.
RE-EN is expected to protect private keys, secure transactions, and help future-proof Dogecoin against quantum threats while maintaining compatibility with existing blockchain mechanisms.
