In the evening of 15 April, General Secretary and State President To Lam and his wife met relatives of Vietnamese–Chinese military leaders, experts, and friendship figures. The meeting included Politburo members Tran Cam Tu and Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Secretary of the Central Committee and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense General Phan Van Giang; and Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung.
To Lam expressed deep emotion at the meeting and highlighted the long-standing assistance from Chinese experts and advisers who supported Vietnam in wartime, saying their solidarity and contributions helped secure decisive victories. He conveyed sincere thanks for China’s substantial human and material support to the Vietnamese revolutionary cause.
In remarks on bilateral relations, To Lam said high-level exchanges continue, security-defense cooperation is expanding, and economic ties are making progress across trade, investment, and connectivity. He noted that China remains Vietnam’s largest trading partner, while Vietnam is China’s fourth-largest trading partner globally. He also said local exchanges are broadening people-to-people contact, helping take the relationship into a deeper, more comprehensive, and more robust phase.
To Lam affirmed that Vietnam and China are friendly neighbors and traditional partners for comprehensive strategic cooperation, sharing a future-oriented vision. He said developing the Vietnam–China relationship remains an objective, strategic choice and a top foreign-policy priority for Vietnam.
On this occasion, To Lam expressed appreciation and urged relatives of senior leaders, experts, and friendship figures from both sides to continue preserving and passing on the tradition of Vietnam–China friendship.
Earlier in the afternoon, the delegation visited the Museum of the Chinese Communist Party History. To Lam underscored that Vietnam has commenced construction of the Vietnam Communist Party Museum in Hanoi, describing it as a project of major significance for preserving historical materials, supporting education, and fostering revolutionary traditions.
At the museum, he signed the guestbook, reaffirming the determination of the Party, the State and the people of Vietnam to maintain and promote friendship rooted in mutual support and brotherhood, for the benefit of the two peoples and for regional and world peace and development.
In the evening, a friendship arts program titled “Vietnam–China Friendly Cultural Exchange” was held to mark the state visit. Performances featured representative artistic works that blended traditional and contemporary forms, and concluded with a joint musical piece praising Vietnam–China friendship.
The spouses of the leaders participated. Both expressed appreciation for the talent and capabilities displayed and discussed opportunities for continued cultural exchange and performances. The program also included a joint visit to the National Theatre of China by the spouses and discussions on future cultural and artistic exchanges between the two countries.
