In Beijing, after a state welcome ceremony at the Great Hall of the People, Vietnamese General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm and the senior Vietnamese delegation held talks with Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.
The Chinese side welcomed Tô Lâm and his delegation, saying Vietnam is a priority in China’s neighboring diplomacy and a key partner in the comprehensive strategic partnership. It cited Vietnam’s achievements under its XIV Party Congress and expressed confidence in Vietnam’s development path.
The leaders reaffirmed that Vietnam and China should deepen cooperation and strengthen political trust, align policies, and expand people-to-people exchanges and regional cooperation.
The discussions covered economic and trade ties, investment, and infrastructure connectivity. The leaders emphasized moving from broad economic cooperation to deeper integrated development, including rail connectivity and other strategic infrastructure.
In the economic sphere, they urged higher-level cooperation in trade, investment, and tourism, focusing on strategic infrastructure projects such as rail. They also aimed to connect supply chains and logistics, called for greater access for Vietnamese goods into the Chinese market, and sought to promote balanced and healthy trade. The leaders further highlighted stronger technology transfer and industrial support.
The leaders announced the launch of the Vietnam–China Tourism Cooperation Year for 2026–2027. They also discussed visa exemption for group travelers at selected locations.
They agreed to maintain close political and strategic dialogue, enhance leadership channels between the Parties, governments, parliaments, and mass organizations, and promote cooperation in science and technology, education, culture, and local-government exchanges.
The leaders agreed to implement the three-level ministerial strategic dialogue mechanism and to strengthen cooperation across political, economic, and people-to-people dimensions.
