From April 15 to 19, 2026, at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum (66 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Hanoi), the public will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the unique artistic space of the exhibition titled 'The Leaf Game'. This is Ta Hai’s third solo exhibition — a retired journalist who remains deeply devoted to nature. The event not only introduces more than 80 newly created works but also marks an important milestone, recognizing more than 60 years of tireless pursuit and the creation of a distinct leaf painting style. In Ta Hai’s painting world, the medium does not come from chemical pigments but is refined from dried flowers and fallen leaves. Through skillful hands and a sensitive perspective, things that seemed to have reached the end of their life cycle are reborn, becoming vibrant paintings. Look closely at each painting: the dried leaves and flowers are not treated. All of the artist’s creations are simply arrangements of these natural colors, selecting leaves of appropriate sizes for each position. Thus, he does not call himself a painter, but a "collector." “I feel each leaf by itself has already been a creation of nature. Therefore I decide to let nature express itself, to speak with its own voice. Is there anything more fitting than using the colors of flowers and leaves to express the beauty of nature and landscapes?” — Artist and journalist Ta Hai. After more than 60 years pursuing this special art, Ta Hai’s leaf paintings continue to explore and innovate. Today, their value lies not only in aesthetics but also in the messages they convey: a reminder to conserve and preserve the beauty of nature. Even seemingly common grasses and leaves still hold value, not to mention the green leaves and the diverse colors of nature. At the exhibition, beyond admiring paintings, the public can also directly listen to the artist’s creative journey and explore this unique material in two special talks. In the "Journey of Finding Leaves" session, the artist will share about the 60-year journey of discovering the material. In the session "The Leaf Game", audiences will explore and guess the material while hearing the artist reveal the meaning behind each work.
