Beijing, April 15. In the capital Beijing, Vietnam's General Secretary and President To Lam and China's General Secretary and President Xi Jinping met with Vietnamese and Chinese youths participating in the 'Red Journey: Research and Study' program. The event demonstrated the special attention paid by the leaders of the two parties and countries to education and to nurturing the younger generation, preserving the revolutionary traditions of the previous generations. The 'Red Journey: Research and Study' program was launched in April 2025 during Xi's state visit to Vietnam. After one year, thousands of Vietnamese youths have visited 'red addresses' in China, deepening understanding of revolutionary history and the friendship between the two parties and countries. Speaking at the meeting, Xi Jinping underscored the role of youth in upholding revolutionary faith, strengthening solidarity and cooperation, fostering youth creativity, promoting innovation, and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. He expressed hope that the younger generation would be at the forefront, contributing to development, security, civilization, and global governance, continuing and deepening the China–Vietnam friendship. To Lam asserted that each youth participating in the program has opportunities for deeper awareness of the relationship between the two parties and peoples, formed by President Ho Chi Minh and Chairman Mao Zedong and their predecessors. Youth remain the backbone of the nation-building and development, and a key bridge to advance Vietnam–China relations. To Lam also urged the two countries' youth not to waver in political resolve, to build life ideals, to raise awareness of the strategic significance of the Vietnam–China relationship; to learn, master science and technology, to foster innovation, and to spearhead volunteering, making concrete contributions to each country's development and to bilateral ties. To Lam called on relevant agencies and youth organizations to align with shared high-level understanding, to modernize youth outreach and education, and to expand youth exchanges to provide a sustainable foundation for future bilateral relations. Affirming the role of youth for the nation's fate and the future of Vietnam–China relations, To Lam expressed confidence that the younger generations will continue to inherit and enhance the tradition of friendship, contributing with intellect, ambition, and responsibility to the stable, long-term development of Vietnam–China friendship.
