Gold prices worldwide rose again, briefly pushing above the $4,700 per ounce level, while Vietnam’s domestic market remained largely stable. SJC also issued an operational notice affecting how customers can buy and sell bullion during system upgrades.
By the end of April 6, bullion bars marketed by SJC, PNJ and Bao Tin Minh Chau were listed at 170.1 million VND per tael for buying and 173.1 million VND per tael for selling, unchanged from the morning.
For 99.99% gold jewelry, SJC traded at about 169.6–172.6 million VND per tael (buy-sell), down 300,000 VND from the morning. Over the course of the day, plain gold jewelry prices fell by 1.7 million VND per tael.
Other brands lowered plain gold jewelry prices more sharply, including Mi Hồng Jewelry at 172.7 million VND and PNJ at 172 million VND.
Despite the rebound in global prices, domestic gold prices stayed stable. In the international market, gold was trading at USD 4,673 per ounce tonight, up nearly USD 10 per ounce from the start of the day, after prices briefly moved above USD 4,700 per ounce.
Global gold prices fluctuated strongly as crude oil and the USD index cooled. Crude oil fell to around USD 109 per barrel, while the USD index (DXY) dropped below 100 to 99.9, down from morning levels.
Regarding the domestic bullion market, SJC announced that from April 6, customers wishing to buy or sell bullion will conduct transactions directly at SJC stores. The change is intended to support system upgrades and improve service quality in the near future.
