The Hanoi People’s Committee has issued a decision approving the plan for the alignment and location of National Route 1A from the intersection with Ring Road 1 (Kim Liên tunnel) to the Giẽ bridge, at a 1/500 scale.
The approved section is about 36.3 km long and will feature a 90-meter-wide cross-section with 10 main lanes. The route runs through the wards and communes of Kim Liên, Bach Mai, Phương Liệt, Tương Mai, Định Công, Hoàng Mai, Hoàng Liệt, Yên Sở, Đại Thanh, Thanh Trì, Ngọc Hồi, Thường Tín, Hồng Vân, Thượng Phúc, Chương Dương, Phú Xuyên, Chuyên Mỹ and Đại Xuyên.
Point 1 is located at the intersection with Ring Road 1 (Kim Liên tunnel), while Point 55 is at the Giẽ bridge (Đại Xuyên commune).
According to the Hanoi People’s Committee, the basic alignment generally follows the existing road. The plan includes an exception for the segment through Phú Xuyên station, which will be realigned to use land from Phú Xuyên station after the national railway is relocated.
The cross-section includes a main carriageway of 10 lanes, two side roads each with 3 lanes, medians, central separators, and sidewalks on both sides. Some segments are locally expanded to meet traffic organization requirements and to match the current status.
The decision identifies key interchanges along the route, including 11 interchanges with Ring Road 1 (start), Ring Road 2, Ring Road 2.5, Route 70, Ring Road 3, Ring Road 3.5, Ring Road 4, Provincial Road 427 (Duong Truong Nguyen bridge), the axis of the Olympic Sports City, Ring Road 4.5, and the Giẽ bridge (end).
Under the decision, VinGroup Joint Stock Company is tasked with leading and coordinating with ward/commune authorities along the route and relevant units to publicly disclose the 1/500 plan dossier. This is intended to ensure that relevant organizations and individuals are informed.
The company is also required to finalize the design of interchange connections with the ring roads and urban axes and submit the materials to the Department of Construction for approval.
