The latest report by market research firm Q&Me on household income trends for 2026 shows that household income in Ho Chi Minh City leads the nation with an average of 27.5 million VND per month. Q&Me, the market research company, released the updated report on household income trends in Vietnam for 2026. The report is based on data collected from more than 14,000 participants nationwide over the past year. These data are important for businesses and policymakers to assess the market's real purchasing power. Accordingly, the national average household income stands at 21.9 million VND per month. However, this result reveals clear disparities between major cities and other regions. Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi record notably higher averages, at 26.7 million VND per month. Meanwhile, other areas average around 20.6 million. The largest income group nationwide falls in the 15 to 24.9 million VND per month band. In Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, income distribution shifts more toward higher bands, from 25 to 39.9 million VND per month. Conversely, other regions remain concentrated in the 15 to 19.9 million band. The caption reads: Household income in Ho Chi Minh City is higher than Hanoi and Da Nang. Additionally, when comparing the three major cities—Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang—the Ho Chi Minh City has the highest average income at 27.5 million VND per month, followed by Hanoi at 25.9 million and Da Nang at 21.9 million. Notably, Ho Chi Minh City has a larger share of households in the higher income brackets, above 30 million per month. This indicates a pronounced expansion of the high-income segment. In contrast, Hanoi shows a relatively balanced distribution, primarily in the 20 to 29.9 million per month bracket. Da Nang, although a major city, has a structure closer to the national average with a higher share in the 15 to 24.9 million bracket. The data also show that, compared with 2025, household income in 2026 has risen in all regions. The nationwide average increased from 21.3 million to 21.9 million dong, reflecting steady economic growth. According to Q&Me, the middle-income group of 20 to 30 million dong per month currently constitutes the core consumer segment in Vietnam. Urban markets, especially Ho Chi Minh City, are becoming increasingly important for premium positioning strategies. However, non-urban areas still require value- and affordability-focused strategies. Sustained income growth will provide a solid foundation for long-term consumption expansion.
