On April 24, Ho Chi Minh City Development Bank (HDBank – HOSE: HDB) held its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of shareholders, combining a meet-and-greet and investor dialogue program. The event drew a large turnout of shareholders, international investment funds, and major financial institutions from both domestic and abroad.
Observers noted that the AGM focused heavily on discussion rather than lengthy report presentations, and also featured an experience of HDBank’s digital ecosystem at the Galaxy Innovation Hub (GIH). The bank said this was the only entity in the year’s AGM season to combine the annual general meeting with investor meet-and-dialogue.
In her speech to shareholders, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao said: “The capacity to bear responsibility is the measure of a bank's capability. HDBank is ready to shoulder.” She also emphasized the bank’s development philosophy: “Every number in the financial report — behind it is a human being.”
Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao described HDBank as a “growth architecture with a deliberate design, helping us weather volatility and seize opportunities.” She said the bank is built as a complete financial-services ecosystem, where banking, consumer finance, securities, digital banking, and connected sectors such as aviation and retail form a closed-loop value circle. She added that technology is the backbone of this ecosystem.
Dr. Philipp Rösler, former German Vice-Chancellor and Senior Advisor to HDBank, said HDBank is “proactively connecting with international capital markets, expanding cooperation with leading institutions, to bring Vietnamese enterprises to the world — and bring global capital to Vietnam.” He highlighted the role of pioneering financial institutions in linking global capital with fast-growing economies such as Vietnam, and noted HDBank’s direction including strengthening cooperation with the London Stock Exchange (LSE), participating in initiatives under the Vietnam International Financial Centre (VIFC) framework in Ho Chi Minh City, and expanding access to international capital markets.
Chairman Kim Byoungho said HDBank is not only building a bank but creating “a financial institution of a new era: where technology goes with humanity, where growth goes with responsibility.” He added: “We are not chasing short-term numbers. We build to endure across generations.”
At the end of the 2026 AGM, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao stated: “When Vietnam rises, when Vietnamese enterprises go global — we accompany. And when you place your trust in us, we commit to acting to deliver meaningful, lasting, and sustainable value.” She said the bank’s philosophy is carried through “ceaseless creativity” and “enlightened and ethical conduct — every day, every year, and on the journey ahead.”
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
