The Khánh Hòa Department of Construction has proposed adding the Cu Hin Mountain tunnel project to the public investment list for the 2026–2030 period, with an estimated total investment of over 3,751 billion VND. The project aims to improve connectivity between Cam Ranh Airport and Nha Trang.
The tunnel project is planned to be implemented by the provincial Project Management Board for investment in constructing rural infrastructure and transport works. It covers about 5.2 km in total, including a tunnel section of about 4.5 km.
The route starts at Nguyen Tất Thành Street in Nam Nha Trang ward and ends by connecting with Provincial Road DT.657I in Cam Lâm commune. The road cross-section is about 20 m wide on average.
The tunnel will include two parallel tubes, approximately 30 m apart, each about 8 m wide.
Upon completion and operation, the project is expected to create an additional transport route linking the Cam Ranh Airport area with Nha Trang, helping shorten travel times between the two areas. The project is also expected to support development in manufacturing, tourism, and services, contributing to local economic growth and socio-economic development while meeting security and defense requirements.
The Department of Construction also noted that investing in the Cu Hin Mountain tunnel would provide a more stable traffic flow than the existing bypass route through the area, which is frequently affected by landslides.
The proposal aligns with Khánh Hòa province’s master planning for 2021–2030 with a vision to 2050, which was approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 318 dated 29 March 2023.
However, the project is not currently included in the public investment list under Provincial People’s Council Resolution No. 35 dated 16 September 2025 for the mid-term public investment plan 2026–2030.
Based on the above, the Khánh Hòa Department of Construction urged the Khánh Hòa Provincial People’s Committee to consider adding the Cu Hin tunnel project to the 2026–2030 public investment list and to allocate funds for implementation according to the approved plan.
