From April 1 to June 30, the La Sơn – Hòa Liên Expressway linking Hue City and Da Nang will prohibit all passenger vehicles of 9 seats or more and trucks with 6 axles to support widening and landslide mitigation works.
According to the Ho Chi Minh Highway Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction), the expressway will absolutely ban travel by passenger vehicles with 9 seats or more and trucks with 6 axles or more.
For vehicles serving construction but subject to the restrictions, contractors must have a registration document with confirmation from the PMB, which will be submitted to relevant authorities for review and travel permits.
Other vehicles may continue to travel on the expressway, but must observe a maximum speed of 60 km/h. In the area with a landslide on the negative slope at Km50+700, vehicles must reduce speed to a maximum of 30 km/h to ensure safety.
The temporary traffic plan will be applied from April 1 to June 30 to ensure safety for people and vehicles while widening works are underway.
During the closure, passenger vehicles with 9 seats and trucks with 6 axles traveling north-south and vice versa will be diverted to National Highway 1. Vehicles needing to access Khe Tre commune and return will be redirected to Provincial Road 14B.
The traffic restriction is attributed to unusually heavy rains in October–November 2025, which triggered landslides at several slope locations along the route. The damaged sections have currently been temporarily repaired to support construction and maintain initial traffic flow.
To fully address the issue, the PMB is coordinating with stakeholders to review, finalize the plan, and submit it to the Ministry of Construction for approval.
The East–North expansion project of the North–South Expressway, La Sơn – Hòa Liên section, has a length of 65 km, connecting Hue City with Da Nang. The route starts at Km0 (Hung Loc commune, Hue City), linking to the Cam Lo – La Sơn Expressway, and ends at Km66 (Hòa Liên junction, Da Nang).
Under the approved plan, the project will widen the road and facilities to a four-lane standard, with a 22-meter-wide road surface and a design speed of 60–80 km/h. Construction is scheduled for 240 days, carried out by a seven-contractor consortium, and is expected to be completed within this year.
