Vietnam's General Secretary and President To Lam held talks with Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping. In the talks, To Lam affirmed that Vietnam consistently regards developing relations with China as a policy, strategic choice, and top priority. On the morning of April 15, after the state welcome ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, To Lam met with Xi Jinping. Xi Jinping warmly welcomed To Lam and the Vietnamese delegation, congratulated To Lam on the National Assembly's trust to appoint him President, and expressed confidence that Vietnam would continue to implement the leadership of its Party and state and advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China. To Lam expressed sincere thanks for the warm and courteous reception and noted that Vietnam always regards the development of Vietnam-China relations as a consistent policy, a strategic choice, and a top priority; they should pursue friendship and cooperation and promote a Vietnam-China Community with strategic significance. The two leaders exchanged views on the new highlights in the theoretical and practical directions of the 14th National Congress, and the new Vietnamese leadership's desire to continue to strengthen the traditional friendship, advance the comprehensive strategic partnership, and realize a shared future for Vietnam and China with significant strategic meaning. They reaffirmed that China would continue to support Vietnam’s leadership and its socialist path, and that Vietnam remains a priority in China's neighboring diplomacy. The two leaders noted that Vietnam and China both expect to deepen political trust, coordinate strategies at a high level, and work together on regional and international concerns. The two sides also exchanged views on concrete cooperation: economic and trade, investment, transport infrastructure, strategic connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges. They agreed to advance visa-free group tours for mutual travel. They witnessed the signing of cooperation documents across party, police, judiciary, economy, science and technology, supply chains, people-to-people, media, and local cooperation. Later that day, they hosted a state banquet. In a cordial and friendly atmosphere, the two sides recalled the long tradition of friendship and exchange on culture and customs; they emphasized deepening the Vietnam-China partnership and building a shared future with strategic significance. This is a special form of contact between the top leaders of the two Parties and states, reflecting strong friendship and mutual respect and a shared determination to deepen cooperation for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world.
