Plan to recruit architectural proposals for the overpass at the interchange of the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thành–Dầu Giây Expressway with Ring Road 3 is attracting attention from professionals and the public. This is a key component of Component 2 of the project, aiming to build the Cat Lai–Phú Hữu port-linked corridor, creating a landmark for the city’s eastern gateway. The goal of the design competition is to seek an architectural concept that is optimal, feasible, and modern. The contest aims not only to deliver an efficient transportation facility but also to serve as a distinctive architectural symbol that enhances the urban appearance. The competition’s scope covers the entire route, about 5.90 km long, from the starting point at the intersection with Nguyen Thi Dinh Street to the interchange of the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thành–Dầu Giây Expressway with Ring Road 3. The project is expected to include Ba Cua Bridge with 10 lanes, a cut-and-cover from Phú Hữu Port to SP-ITC Port with 4 lanes, and a cut-and-cover from SP-ITC Port to the interchange with 6 lanes. The interchange will retain its trumpet-dual configuration, while adding linked port branches to optimize traffic relief. The competition is open to design consultancies with experience in architecture, planning, and road transportation. Participating firms will be evaluated based on capability and design outputs. The competition panel will select the most optimal option to present to the City People’s Committee for approval. The competition is planned to last about 85 days after plan approval. The Project Management Board for investment in the construction of transportation projects will be responsible for providing documents and information needed by participating units, ensuring the competition proceeds smoothly and in accordance with regulations. The plan to hold a design competition for the overpass at this interchange is not only an important step in transport infrastructure development but also an opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City to affirm its position in modern urban architecture. With the participation of leading consultancy units, the project promises breakthrough solutions, contributing to the city’s sustainable development.
