A business owner in Dak Lak province has been prosecuted for tax evasion after reporting revenue of 143 billion VND but paying only 900,000 VND in taxes. On April 6, information from the Dak Lak Provincial Police Department's Economic Police confirmed that a business owner, Mrs. M.T.H. (residing in Krông Á commune), was prosecuted for tax evasion. Mrs. H. allegedly submitted false revenue declarations to evade taxes. The investigating agency served the relevant prosecutorial decisions on Mrs. M.T.H. Photo: Dak Lak Police. Earlier, during its information-gathering work, the Economic Police Department of Dak Lak Province detected signs of tax evasion at M.T.H.’s household business in 2022. According to initial investigations, the household engaged in purchasing acacia wood, rubber wood, and other timber and reselling to enterprises to profit from price differences. Although actual revenue reached about 143 billion VND, the owner declared only 144 million VND and paid only 900,000 VND in value-added tax and personal income tax. The authorities determined that as the business expanded, the owner failed to adjust declarations as required, deliberately concealing revenue to evade taxes, causing a budget shortfall of more than 2.1 billion VND. The case is under investigation and being expanded to handle under the law.
