China has moved to tighten oversight of AI-generated “digital humans,” proposing rules that require clear labeling of related content and restrict uses deemed harmful for minors. The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) published a draft regulation aimed at controlling the development and deployment of AI-generated virtual characters.
Under the proposal, all content related to AI-generated virtual characters must be clearly labeled. The draft also prohibits services that could be addictive or that create virtual relationships for minors under 18.
The regulation further bans creating digital characters using another person’s personal information without consent. It also prevents using virtual characters to bypass identity verification processes.
The draft blocks content related to national security, incitement to division, and pornographic or violent material.
CAC said the governance of digital humans is not only a technical issue, but also relates to cybersecurity, public interest, and the sustainable development of the digital economy.

Apple has released the first public beta of iOS 26.5 shortly after the developer beta. A key feature highlighted in the update is “Suggested Places” in Apple Maps, which suggests popular venues based on location and search history.
Apple also confirmed it will begin showing ads in Maps. The ads are set to appear at the top of search results and within the suggestions list, personalized by location and keywords while preserving privacy. Apple said personal data is not linked to an Apple ID and will only be stored on-device.
The beta also tests end-to-end encryption for RCS messaging, though it is unclear whether this will be included in the final release. Interested users can sign up for the Apple Beta Software Program to access the features early.
