Google has officially rolled out its “Personal Intelligence” feature on the Gemini platform in Vietnam, extending an earlier launch in the United States in 2026. The update is part of a broader push to personalize AI experiences for mainstream users.
Google positions Personal Intelligence as a shift for Gemini from a conventional question-and-answer tool into a “personalized digital assistant” that can understand individual user needs and habits more deeply.
The core of Personal Intelligence is the ability to connect and process data from four Google services: Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Google Search.
When enabled, Gemini can synthesize information from these sources to produce answers tailored to the user. Google says the system not only retrieves information, but also reasons across context spanning text, images, and videos.
For instance, when planning a trip to Da Lat for the April 30–May 1 holiday, a user can ask Gemini to “summarize my Da Lat trip plan.” Google says Gemini can compile hotel bookings from Gmail, pull related photos from Google Photos, and suggest dining options based on YouTube history—without requiring the user to repeatedly check search history or switch between apps.
Google said privacy is central to the feature. Connections between apps are off by default and are activated only when users explicitly allow them.
Users can choose which apps to connect, and can disconnect or delete history at any time. Google also states that personal data such as emails or photos is not used directly to train the AI model.
Instead, the system uses a minimal amount of data—such as commands and responses—after anonymization to improve service quality over time.
Google further says Gemini is designed to be transparent about information sources. When providing answers, the system can cite or explain the data used so users can verify. For sensitive topics such as health, Google says it will not infer information unless the user directly requests it.
Personal Intelligence is initially available to users subscribed to Google AI Plus and Ultra paid tiers. Google expects a broader rollout to free users in the coming weeks.
The feature is supported on web, Android, and iOS.
Google acknowledged that the technology is still being refined. It noted potential limitations, including the possibility of misinterpreting personal context or personalizing too aggressively. Users are encouraged to provide feedback to help improve the system.
Users can enable Personal Intelligence in Gemini settings by linking the desired Google apps as instructed: open Gemini, go to Settings → Personal Intelligence → Choose Connected Apps (Gmail, Photos, ...).
