In response to National Public Health Day on April 7 and Vietnam’s policy shift from “curing diseases” to “prevention,” Long Châu pharmacies and vaccination centers have partnered with Bayer and the Department of Disease Prevention to implement nationwide stroke screening and prevention programs. Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability in Vietnam, with more than 200,000 new cases each year. The program, “Strengthening prevention, early detection, and management of stroke risk in Vietnam,” launched by Long Châu in collaboration with Bayer and the Department of Disease Prevention (Ministry of Health), is being expanded nationwide.
At a National Public Health Day event held on the morning of April 5 in Hanoi, state leaders and the Ministry of Health visited free screening sites to assess blood pressure, blood glucose, and other indicators. Individuals identified as high risk received direct counseling from healthcare professionals to better understand their health status and take appropriate preventive measures.
In addition, Long Châu is coordinating the deployment of free bone density screening services to help the public proactively identify risks related to bone and joint health.
Long Châu, Bayer, and the public–private partnership are advancing preventive health services for stroke prevention across the country. The event also included activities to expand preventive care, with leadership from government and health authorities emphasizing proactive health measures. The initiative aligns with the World Health Organization’s World Health Day 2026 theme: “Global action for universal health coverage,” with the core goal of universal access to quality, equitable, and sustainable health services.
By the evening of April 5, Long Châu and the vaccination centers network organized a public policy event, the live broadcast “People’s health, national happiness,” with participation from lawmakers, health leaders, and industry partners. The collaboration highlights a strategic shift toward prevention and proactive health management in Vietnam.
The program will expand through a network of 2,500 Long Châu pharmacies and more than 200 vaccination centers. Activities include broad community screening, public awareness campaigns on early recognition and response to stroke, in-depth medical counseling, and mobile screening programs in multiple regions. The public–private model aims to bring preventive health services closer to people to support early risk detection and timely interventions.
Starting April 5, Long Châu and Bayer expanded screening for atrial fibrillation (AF) and hypertension at 200 pharmacies nationwide. The AF screening uses Omron’s automatic blood pressure monitor, Omron HEM-7383T1, with Intellisense AFib to detect AF. Participants will be screened for AF and high blood pressure, receive in-depth counseling from medical professionals, and be referred where necessary.
The expansion reflects Long Châu’s commitment to building a sustainable, standardized health care ecosystem centered on people. With coverage across 34 provinces and a workforce of 20,000 pharmacists, doctors, and health professionals, Long Châu is positioning itself as a first point of contact for health care, helping millions of families access counseling, screening, and ongoing care conveniently.
Nguyen Do Quyen, Deputy General Director of FPT Retail and Chief Operating Officer of Long Châu, said: “Public Health Day marks a crucial shift toward preventive care. Long Châu commits to partnering with the Ministry of Health to strengthen prevention and management of stroke and chronic diseases in Vietnam. Stroke can be prevented with early detection and proper management of risk factors. Through our broad network and collaborations with reputable domestic and international partners, Long Châu aims to bring screening and health counseling closer to people, reducing disease burden and improving living standards for the community.”
The article also notes ongoing expansion of health protection and community health activities, reinforcing Long Châu’s role as a bridge between government health policy and national health objectives.
