Sacombank has issued a notice related to the seizure of collateral tied to bad debt involving Bamboo Airways. In its announcement, the bank said it sent Notice No. 409/TB-P.XLN on March 20, requiring the collateral provider/holder to voluntarily hand over the collateral and related legal documentation by March 27. As the borrower/collateral holder did not comply, Sacombank issued a decision to seize the collateral on March 31.
The assets listed by Sacombank include land use rights covering 86,308.9 square meters, comprising 86,267.5 square meters of rural land and 41.4 square meters of urban land, spread across 355 land use right certificates. The collateral also includes ownership of houses and other assets attached to the land at Area C – Villa residential area within the Dak Doa complex, Tan Bình commune, Dak Doa district, Gia Lai province (now Dak Doa commune, Gia Lai province). The land was issued by the Gia Lai Province Department of Natural Resources and Environment on September 9, 2021.
Sacombank states that the property owner is FLC Group. The land use term ends on July 27, 2071.
Sacombank expects the seizure to be implemented between April 22 and June 22, 2026. Within 15 days from receipt of the notice, the involved parties are required to cooperate to hand over the assets to the bank.
At the same time, the bank requires guarantors and the unit managing the assets to relocate all assets not covered by the collateral before the seizure. Sacombank also states that all costs arising will be borne by the borrower and the guarantor.
The notice notes that FLC Group had re-taken control of Bamboo Airways since September of the previous year. The leadership cited that continuing ownership, management and operation of Bamboo Airways at that time exceeded the financial and governance capacity of the investor group.
Both FLC Group and Bamboo Airways are run by Mr. Trịnh Văn Quyết. The notice also mentions that Mr. Quyết has re-emerged in several FLC-related events and is introduced as Chairman of FLC Group. In addition, it states that Mr. Quyết met with Boeing representatives to discuss restarting aircraft purchase contracts and to enhance cooperation between the two sides to suit Bamboo Airways’ development stage.
