Five major policy directions will guide Vietnam’s government for the 2026–2031 term, Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng said after being sworn in as head of government. On the afternoon of 7 April, in the Dien Hong Hall of the National Assembly in Hanoi, the National Assembly elected him to lead the government for 2026–2031. He took the oath and delivered remarks to the National Assembly, the people, and voters nationwide.
In his address, PM Hưng pledged “absolute loyalty to the Fatherland, to the people, to the Constitution,” and said the government would strive to fulfill the tasks entrusted by the Party, the State, and the people. He described the appointment as both an honor and a heavy responsibility, and said the government would pursue fast, sustainable development.
PM Hưng also paid tribute to President Hồ Chí Minh and the founders and elders of the revolution, acknowledging the sacrifices that brought Vietnam to its current position internationally. He thanked current and former Party and State leaders for laying a foundation for the government’s work in the coming period, and said the 14th Party Congress set a clear vision, goals, momentum, and an action plan for a new development phase.
PM Hưng reiterated his commitment before the National Assembly and the people, saying the Government will remain loyal to the Fatherland, the people, and the Constitution, and will persevere on the path chosen by the Party, Hồ Chí Minh, and the people. He said the government will unite under the leadership of the Central Committee of the Party, with the core being the General Secretary and President.
PM Hưng outlined five priority directions the Government will pursue:
PM Hưng concluded by thanking and seeking continued guidance from the Party’s Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat, as well as from the National Assembly and the people, including Vietnamese compatriots abroad and international friends, to accompany the government’s mission to bring the country to a higher level of development and integrity.
