Vietnam’s stock market ended higher, with the VN-Index closing up 13.32 points (+0.77%) at 1,750.0. The HNX-Index rose 0.93 points (+0.37%) to 251.91, as market breadth stayed positive with 430 gainers and 350 decliners.
Turnover on the HOSE (VN-Index) reached over 855 million shares, worth more than 22 trillion VND. On the HNX (HNX-Index), turnover was over 82.4 million shares, worth more than 1.5 trillion VND.
Across the three exchanges, total trading volume exceeded 331 million shares, while foreign investors recorded net buying of around 406 billion VND.
In the afternoon session, the VN-Index saw a tug-of-war as selling pressure reemerged, but buyers maintained control, keeping the index in positive territory to the close.
In the morning, the market also leaned bullish: the VN-Index was up over 17 points to 1,754.25, while the HNX-Index rose about 0.23% to 251.56. By 10:30, capital continued to flow into financial and real estate stocks.
Stocks contributing most to the VN-Index included VIC, TCB, BSR and GAS, adding about 9.4 points in total. In contrast, VHM, BVH, HPG and FPT weighed on the index.
The energy sector led the gains, with utilities and media stocks also advancing. Meanwhile, information technology lagged somewhat earlier in the session.
Foreign investors returned to net buying on both HOSE and HNX. On HOSE, net purchases were about 839 billion VND, led by TCB, HPG, MBB and VNM. On HNX, net buying was about 24 billion VND, led by PVS, PVI, NTP and PLC.
Overall breadth favored buyers, with more than 360 gainers versus about 230 decliners. The opening session saw real estate leading gains, while financials and energy stocks also supported the market. The top positive contributor among the most influential names was VIC, adding about +4.82 points, while the top negative contributors limited gains to around 1.56 points across the 10 most influential stocks.
