After land clearance was achieved, construction on Beltway Ring Road 2.5 through Cau Giay is proceeding vigorously, with expectations for timely completion of this key transport link. At the end of March, the Hanoi People’s Committee began investment for three Beltway Ring Road 2.5 segments: Dich Vong - Duong Dinh Nghhe New Urban Area, Vu Pham Ham - Tran Duy Hung, and Nguy Như Kon Tum - Nguyen Trai.
The project is being implemented under an emergency works mechanism to speed up the completion of transport infrastructure and reduce pressure on inner-city corridors. Under the approved plan, the three segments have a total length of about 2.26 km, running through Thanh Xuan, Cau Giay and Yen Hoa wards.
On the section through the new District - Nghhe urban area, site handover has been basically completed, allowing the contractor to begin construction. This segment had previously been delayed for years due to site clearance issues. Immediately after handover, contractors mobilized machinery and personnel to work concurrently across the site.
On-site, many mechanical devices are operating continuously to support earthworks and the installation of technical infrastructure. Contractors are focusing on installing drainage systems along both sides of the route, including concrete culverts with a diameter of about 2 m, gradually completing technical infrastructure before moving to subsequent items.
After the project site was launched, nearby residents monitored progress. Mr. Le Minh Tuan said the pace of construction has accelerated in recent times, surprising him and many households, who previously observed that the project had stretched for years and had raised doubts about implementation.
Businesses along the route also expect benefits once the road is completed. Ms. Pham Thu Trang, a local trader, noted that congestion along the route is frequent, particularly during peak hours. She said that once the road is opened, travel should be smoother and business may benefit from a more stable flow of customers.
According to the Hanoi Transport Construction Investment Project Management Board, the three segments are being implemented in a synchronized manner, targeting completion in 2026. Early commissioning is expected to help relieve bottlenecks, complete the infrastructure network, and support urban development along the route.
Under the overall planning, Ring Road 2.5 has a total length of about 19.6 km, with cross-section widths of 40–50 m, located between Ring Road 2 and Ring Road 3. The transport axis connects cross-regional areas, passes through multiple residential areas and new urban areas, and is intended to contribute to Hanoi’s socio-economic development.
To date, the city has completed 5 of 13 segments, totaling about 11.28 km. Five additional segments are under construction, totaling more than 6 km. The three newly started segments total 2.26 km and are among the remaining links needed to complete the full route.
