VinSpeed, a subsidiary of VinGroup, will carry out Vietnam’s first inter-regional high-speed rail project: the Hanoi–Quang Ninh line. The project, led by VinSpeed, has a total investment of more than 147,000 billion VND (over 5.6 billion USD) and is expected to begin in Quang Ninh.
The line will run through four localities: Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh. It is designed as a double-track route with a length of 120.2 km, using a 1,435 mm gauge and electrification. The line is planned for a maximum speed of up to 350 km/h, while the Hanoi section’s maximum speed is 120 km/h.
The starting point is Co Loa Station (Vietnam International Exhibition Centre, Vinhomes Global Gate Hanoi), and the end point is Ha Long Station (Ha Long Globe Park, Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long, Quang Ninh). The project includes three transfer stations: Gia Bình (Bac Ninh), Ninh Xá (Hai Phong), and Yen Tu (Quang Ninh), as well as one depot at Ha Long.
The project will use the latest high-speed train technology and top-tier signaling and information systems supplied by Siemens Mobility (Germany). Technology transfer to VinSpeed is planned during operations.
Siemens Mobility’s Global CEO Michael Peter said Siemens is committed to delivering Vietnam high-quality, efficient, and safe high-speed train technology, noting that trains travel about 1 million km each day and emphasizing proven absolute safety. He added that each train is fully digitalized to maximize energy efficiency and passenger experience. Siemens will cooperate closely with VinSpeed on technology transfer, train assembly, and maintenance to help build a high-speed train ecosystem in Vietnam.
Under the plan, the project will be completed and enter commercial operation in 2028. It is expected to reduce travel time from Hanoi to Quang Ninh to about 23 minutes.
The Hanoi–Quang Ninh project is VinSpeed’s second high-speed rail initiative. In December 2025, VinSpeed began construction of the Ben Thanh–Can Gio railway in Ho Chi Minh City, expected to be completed in Q4/2028.
Nguyen Viet Quang, Deputy Chairman and General Director of VinGroup, said the groundbreaking reflects VinGroup’s commitment to infrastructure development and to building a modern, internationally standardized transport system that supports national socio-economic development and improves living standards.
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
