Thousands of runners gathered at the starting line as Hytera Communications partnered with the Dalat Ultra Trail 2026 in Vietnam’s Central Highlands to provide integrated communications technologies for more than 7,000 participants from March 27 to 29.
Dalat Ultra Trail 2026, organized by Vietnam MTB Series JSC and part of the Asia Trail Master, is described as one of Vietnam’s major off-road races, featuring high challenges. The event is licensed and supported by the Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The race includes distances up to 100 km, crossing rugged mountain trails and dense forests. The region often has weak mobile signals, creating difficulties for coordination, safety management, and emergency response.
To address these requirements, Hytera deployed a communications setup combining Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) and Digital Mobile Radio (DMR). The PoC P30 and DMR BD Series handheld devices were used as an instant information link among organizers, security teams, medical staff, and volunteers.
The system was further supported by the HM788 SFR signal booster station, intended to extend coverage, improve receive sensitivity, and maintain communication quality in low-signal forested and mountainous areas along the course.
“Ensuring the safety of all athletes and staff is a key factor in a project of this scale and complexity,” said Vu Thi Hoai Thuong, co-founder of Vietnam MTB Series. She added that the rugged terrain requires a communications solution that is both reliable and flexible.
Hytera’s hybrid model, according to the organizers, provided the connectivity needed to coordinate smoothly and respond quickly in critical situations.
“This project continues to demonstrate Hytera’s stable operation in complex and long-distance environments,” said Nguyen Le Thuat, Hytera Vietnam’s Business Director. He said the company is contributing to safety for a major sporting event and Vietnam’s sports culture, adding that Hytera plans to expand activities and offer dedicated communications solutions for communities and enterprises.
