At a Hanoi conference, the State Auditing Office announced the nomination of Nguyen Huu Nghia as the new State Auditor General for the 2026–2031 term. Nghia pledged to work with the Party Committee, the leadership, and all civil servants and employees to implement directives from the Speaker of the National Assembly and six key directions.
First, Nghia said he would inherit and promote the achievements of 32 years of development, continuing to build the State Audit Office into a clean, solid, comprehensive, unified, disciplined, and effective body, with a professional working environment worthy of the trust placed by the Party, the State, and the people.
Second, he committed to effectively implement resolutions of the 14th National Congress, the first Congress of the National Assembly’s Party Committee, the 8th Congress of the State Auditor Office’s Party Committee, and the State Audit Development Strategy through 2030. He also said the institutional framework would be reviewed and refined to meet reform needs and enhance efficiency.
Third, Nghia pledged to continue reforming the organization and operations of auditing toward professionalism, effectiveness, and alignment with international standards. He said audit quality would be improved, with greater emphasis on compliance and operational audits in agencies using state resources, and that audit conclusions and recommendations would be well-founded and feasible.
Fourth, he said audits would be strengthened in sensitive areas and in key national programs and projects, ensuring compliance with Party guidelines and laws. He also highlighted efforts to improve investment efficiency and the use of state budgets, and to prevent, detect, and address violations, waste, and inefficiencies.
Fifth, Nghia committed to promoting science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation in auditing. He said the office would build accurate, complete, clean, live, unified databases and interconnected platforms, and invest in digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and advanced analytical capabilities to forecast and improve policies and laws, providing reliable information for the National Assembly and government management.
Sixth, he said the focus would remain on developing human resources, particularly state auditors. He emphasized leadership by example and said staff must be upright, objective, law-abiding, and professional, guided by values of integrity, intellect, spirit, vision, and resources.
Nghia affirmed that the leadership and staff would turn policy and will into action, converting decisions and tasks into concrete results, and acting promptly and effectively as directed by General Secretary To Lam.
