The border-crossing bridge project over the Red River in Ban Vuoc commune and related infrastructure were implemented during 2021–2025 in three components, with a total investment of 1,490 billion VND. Of these, the upgrading of Provincial Road 156, the Kim Thanh–Ngoi Phat section (component 1), is 8 km long, built as a four-lane road with a roadbed width of 45 m, and began in March 2022.
After multiple difficulties in land clearance that delayed progress, the Kim Thanh–Ngoi Phat route has gradually moved toward completion. The contracting units have just completed the final asphalt concrete paving, about one month ahead of schedule.
The Kim Thanh–Ngoi Phat road project is described as politically, economically, and socially significant. It is intended to strengthen transport connectivity and goods movement, support the development of logistics services, and help develop riverbank urban areas, including industrial zones from Kim Thanh to the Ban Vuoc border gate, connecting to A Mú Sung commune.
Mr. Chu Duc Hai, Director of the Lao Cai Province Project Management Unit, said the contractor is urgently finalizing safety-related items before acceptance, including road lane markings, signage, and guard rails.
